Rx Insert FAQ

Do prescription ski goggle inserts work?

A ski RX insert is a small, removable prescription lens holder that sits behind your ski goggle's main lens. Your prescription goes into the insert, not the goggle lens itself. This lets you use any compatible goggle with perfect vision.

Can I get progressive (bifocal) lenses in your ski RX insert?

Yes. We offer single vision, progressive, and bifocal lenses in our inserts. For skiing, distance-oriented progressives work best - you get clear far vision for the slope and clear mid-to-near vision for your phone or map.

Will the RX insert fog up in cold weather (skiing) or hot weather (running)?

Slightly more than direct-to-lens, but much less than wearing glasses underneath. The gap between the insert and outer lens can trap moisture. To minimize fogging:
1. Choose frames with vents;
2. Apply anti-fog spray to the insert;
3. In cold weather, avoid trapping warm breath behind the lens.

Is the RX insert noticeable when I'm wearing the sunglasses?

From the outside, barely. The insert sits behind the tinted or mirrored sport lens. From a few feet away, people just see the outer lens - not the insert. From the inside, you'll see a thin frame around your peripheral vision, but most users adjust quickly.

Can I get high-index lenses in an RX insert to keep them thin?

Yes. We offer 1.67 and 1.74 high-index for stronger prescriptions (above ±4.00). This keeps the insert lenses thin and lightweight, even with higher powers.
