Prescription Sunglasses for Kids FAQ

At what age can a child start wearing prescription sunglasses?

If an infant needs vision correction and sun protection, they can wear prescription sunglasses at any age. For most children, prescription sunglasses become practical between ages 2 and 4.

Are prescription sunglasses safe for active kids and sports?

Yes. You may choose prescription sports sunglasses for your kids. We use polycarbonate lenses for sports sunglasses, which are:
1. Impact-resistant (same material as safety glasses);
2. Lightweight (won't weigh down little faces);
3. 100% UV protective.
Perfect for baseball, soccer, playground, beach, and everyday play.

Can my child wear your "Tom" sunglasses for baseball or soccer?

Absolutely. Many parents have bought our Tom sports sunglasses for their kids, and the kids are very happy with them for playing baseball and soccer. The Tom model is also one of our best-selling models.

Can I get polarized lenses for my child's sunglasses?

Yes, absolutely. Polarized lenses work for children just like they work for adults. You can get them in any child's prescription – single vision, astigmatism, or even bifocal if needed. They are available in the same frame styles and colors as regular lenses.
Children spend many hours outdoors - at recess, sports, pool, beach, and playground. Polarized lenses make that time more comfortable and safer for their eyes.

Are photochromic lenses good for kids?

Yes - photochromic lenses are excellent for most children. They are one of the most practical choices for kids who wear prescription glasses. One pair works indoors and outdoors - no losing, forgetting, or swapping sunglasses.
