Cycling Sunglasses FAQ

What is special about cycling sunglasses?

Cycling sunglasses are not regular sunglasses. They are designed specifically for the unique demands of riding a bike. Here is what makes them different:
1. Wraparound fit for full protection;
2. Impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses;
3. Polarized or non-polarized options;
4. Lightweight, secure fit;
5. 100% UV protection;
6. Prescription available.

Are prescription cycling sunglasses safe in a crash?

To be honest, no eyewear can guarantee full safety in a crash. However, our prescription cycling sunglasses use impact‑resistant polycarbonate lenses, which are designed to offer better protection than standard lenses. Frames with rubber padding and a secure fit may also help reduce injury risk.

Are polarized lenses better for cycling?

Not necessarily for every rider. Polarized lenses reduce glare from wet roads or car windshields, which some cyclists find helpful. However, they can also make it harder to spot icy patches or oily surfaces. That’s why we offer both polarized and non‑polarized options in our cycling series — so you can choose based on your typical routes and lighting conditions.

Can I wear cycling sunglasses over my prescription glasses?

Technically yes, but it is not recommended for serious or frequent cycling. Because they are not designed to fit together.
Most cycling sunglasses have a curved, wraparound shape that sits close to your face. There is no room for a second pair of glasses underneath. Forcing them to fit creates pressure points on your nose and temples, which becomes painful on long rides.
You may consider our prescription sports sunglasses, which have a Rx insert for prescription.

Can I get progressive lenses for cycling sunglasses?

Yes, progressive lenses are available for many of our cycling frames. Keep in mind that progressive lenses can take some time to adjust to during active sports like cycling, as they have different viewing zones. We usually recommend testing them on shorter, less intense rides first.
