Vision changes slowly over time. Watch for these common signs that your current glasses no longer fit your needs:
1. Blurry vision
Objects look fuzzy at distance, up close, or both — even with your glasses on.
2. Frequent headaches and eye strain
Your eyes work overtime to compensate for an outdated prescription, causing regular tension headaches around the forehead.
3. Constant squinting
You regularly squint to sharpen your vision while wearing your current glasses.
4. Double vision
Seeing double often means your astigmatism has changed, or your eyes are struggling to work together due to an outdated prescription.
5. Worse night vision and glare
Halos around lights at night, or increased glare from screens and sunlight, may signal a prescription shift or worn anti-glare coating.
6. Damaged glasses
Scratched lenses, loose frames, or peeling coatings reduce clarity and strain your eyes. Even if your prescription hasn't changed, damaged lenses scatter light and force your eyes to strain.
7. Rapid eye fatigue
Your eyes feel tired or sore after short periods of reading or screen use.
As a rule, most adults need a prescription update every 1-2 years, and children every 6-12 months. If you notice any of these signs, schedule an eye exam for updated glasses and comfortable vision.
